The 1996 Château Angélus represents a traditional and aristocratic expression of Saint-Émilion. Approaching its third decade, this wine has transitioned beautifully into a fully mature, tertiary-driven state. The bouquet is highly complex, offering classic Right Bank aromatics of dried plums, saddle leather, humidor, cedar, and undergrowth. It is medium to full-bodied, possessing a firmer tannic backbone characteristic of the 1996 vintage, yet the tannins are now harmoniously resolved. The finish is structured, savory, and remarkably persistent.
