[Chateau Angelus 2001]
Robert Parker rating: 97/100
Château Angélus is a renowned wine estate located in the Saint-Émilion region in the northeast of Bordeaux. The property is situated in a coveted location to the west of the town of Saint-Émilion, on a gentle south-facing slope of the Saint-Émilion plateau. It produces a luxurious, long-lived Merlot-Cabernet Franc wine that is often highly rated by critics. The grand wine is aged in new oak barrels for about 18 months before bottling. Then, it will be stored in the bottle for at least five years before being released, but due to the concentration, weight, and structure of Angélus, which usually allow the wine to evolve over decades, it can be aged for a longer period.
"Chateau Angelus 2001 has evolved faster than the 2000, but it is a plush, sexy, and juicy Angelus style, with dense plum/purple, lots of chocolate, blueberry, and blackberry fruit, a pronounced floral note in the rich floral aromas, and a dense, sexy texture and rich palate."This wine seems to have already entered its mature phase; it should continue to hold for at least another 10-15 years.
Grape variety:
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
