[BriO de Cantenac Brown 2016 4支套裝]James Suckling rating: 92/100
Chateau Cantenac Brown is located in the Margaux region on the left bank of Bordeaux, adjacent to the first-growth estate Chateau Margaux.Originally just an obscure little vineyard, it was later acquired by the Boyd family and turned into a chateau. Since then, the estate has changed hands several times, and in the 1885 classification of the estates, it was rated as a third growth.Until 1960, when it was acquired by the Lalande family, who owned the second-growth estate Chateau Leoville Poyferre, the vineyard underwent significant development. By the end of the 19th century, Chateau Cantenac Brown had already become a renowned Bordeaux estate. But the economic depression and wars in the early 20th century caused the estate to be unable to operate normally, and for more than 30 years, it did not produce any wine, even becoming a deserted estate.Until 1968 and 1989, it was respectively acquired by the Vivier family and the AXA Group, gradually regaining its former glory. The current owner of the estate, Simon Halabi, purchased it from the AXA Group in 2006.
