The name of Chateau Calon Segur comes from the old French word Calon, which was used in the Middle Ages to refer to the boats that transported timber from one side of the Garonne River to the other, and from the Marquis de Segur, who owned the castle in the early 18th century.From the 19th century until 2012, the Capbern-Gasqueton family owned the third-growth estate in the Saint-Estèphe region.Calon Segur continues to produce wines with a unique style, marked by the typicity of the region.
Saint Estephe de Calon Segur 2018 is deep ruby red, exuding aromas of black fruits, blackcurrant, and a hint of spice. The palate is full-bodied, with a well-structured tannin profile, featuring black cherries, plums, and a hint of tobacco. The wine has a long, smooth finish and is considered an excellent value for its quality.
