[Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2009]
Robert Parker rating: 98/100 (2011)
Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte was reorganized by French supermarket magnate Daniel Cathiard after he purchased the estate in 1990, bringing it back to the top tier of Pessac Leognan.Due to the unique terroir conditions of this area, it is suitable for growing both red and white grapes, making it one of the few regions in Bordeaux where both red and white wines are excellent.Robert Parker even awarded the red and white wines a perfect score of 100 points in 2009 and 2010, making it a force to be reckoned with!
"The dry white wine of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2009 is very close to perfection."It might be the best dry white wine produced by the estate since the owners, the Cathiards, acquired the estate in 1990, exuding a captivating aroma of creamy citrus, honeydew melon, and hints of grapefruit, lemon peel, and orange peel.It also exhibits a medium mouthfeel with grapefruit on the palate, along with truly rich, excellent acidity and a lingering finish. Drink within the next 15-20 years. Amazing!"
Grape varieties:90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Gris
