Chateau Lascombes was founded in the 17th century and is a classified growth estate in the Margaux region of Bordeaux. It was rated as a second growth estate in 1855 and has changed ownership multiple times. In 2001, during a crucial period of rapid development for Chateau Lascombes, the former chief winemaker of the first growth estate Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Dominique Befve, was invited to serve as the chief winemaker and general manager of Chateau Lascombes. He introduced new winemaking techniques that not only improved the quality of the wine but also consistently received ratings of over 90 points from Robert Parker, making it one of the fastest-growing classified growth estates in Bordeaux!
