[Chateau Duhart Milon 2016]
Robert Parker rating: 94/100
Chateau Duhart Milon was classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855, and it is one of the few chateaus without a real castle. Its wine is actually produced in a large warehouse located on the outskirts of Pauillac, but the current quality of the wine is quite good.So in 1962, it was acquired by the neighboring Chateau Lafite-Rothschild (a first-growth estate).Chateau Lafite-Rothschild conducted a comprehensive cleanup of the vineyard, renovated the wine cellar, purchased advanced fermentation equipment, and reinstalled the drainage system. With the purchase of new plots and the active implementation of replanting plans, the area of the vineyard has significantly increased.Today, under the strict management of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, it has gained widespread fame and received numerous accolades, also known as the Lafite Brothers.
"If you can't afford Lafite Rothschild, why not try Duhart Milon? The quality of Chateau Duhart Milon 2012 is not far off from its more famous neighbor. It's spicy, deep ruby/purple in color, with flavors of blackcurrant, cedarwood, and spice box. This wine is soft, rounded, juicy, and medium-bodied, making it perfect for drinking now and for the next 15 years or so."This is not one of their best efforts, but it is indeed well-made, with a soft and inviting texture.
