[Le Clarence Haut Brion 2013]
Robert Parker rating: 91/100
Chateau Haut Brion is a winery with a legendary reputation: it is the only one of the 61 classified growths in Bordeaux not located in the Medoc region, and it is also the only top Bordeaux winery that produces both red and white wines.Additionally, although it is the smallest estate among the five great Bordeaux châteaux, it was the first to gain fame.Chateau Haut Brion is aged in new oak barrels for 20 to 24 months, possessing a unique mineral character, exuding rich aromas of dark fruits, cigars, chocolate, and cedar wood, with an extremely complex palate; it appears restrained and smooth at first, but quickly reveals a powerful sensation, with an exceptionally long finish.
The second wine of Chateau Haut Brion is a blend of 57% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 16% Cabernet Franc.La Mission Haut Brion is superior to its nearby competitor's second wine, La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion, because it is more charming and carries a wealth of blackcurrant, cherry, and pear-like fruit aromas. It has good color, although it lacks much tannin, structure, or density, but it does possess the minerality one hopes to find from the Graves region.Le Clarence Haut Brion 2013 should be opened and consumed while it is still young and vigorous, ideally within the first 7-8 years after release.

57% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc
