[Chateau Lafon Rochet 2003 Magnum Size (1500ML)]
The name of Chateau Lafon Rochet comes from the French word "Roches," meaning stones, which reflects the typical Saint Estephe gravelly terrain of the village where it is located. The winery itself is situated on a gravel plateau, overlooking the village's Cos d’Estournel and Pauillac's Chateau Lafite, with excellent geographical conditions. The estate's history dates back to the 17th century, and it was already a renowned winery before being classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 ranking. The Tesseron family bought the estate in 1960 and has been operating it ever since. In 2012, they hired Jean Claude Berrouet, who previously worked at Chateau Petrus, as a winemaking consultant. The owner believes that half of the soil structure in Chateau Lafon Rochet's vineyard is similar to that of Petrus. Jean Claude, who is skilled at blending, can ideally and accurately express the distinctive style of the estate's red wines. The wine style of Chateau Lafon Rochet has a slightly heavier mouthfeel with a hint of spiciness, combined with fresh fruit aromas, making it refreshing, pure, and full of vitality.
"Chateau Lafon Rochet 2003 is fully mature, round, soft, and quite complex, showcasing aromas of cedar, licorice, Christmas fruitcake, red and black fruits." The tannins in this medium-bodied, low-acidity Saint-Estèphe wine have softened, so please enjoy it over the next 4-5 years.
